Little Leaguers Find the Winning Edge

Imagine emerging from the loser’s bracket to winning your first League championship. That’s exactly what happened to a Davis, California little league team after just three weeks of using the EYEPORT^® Vision Training System.

Teresa Bowen, a Vision Educator and avid baseball fan, had an insight that using the EYEPORT might help the children on this team become better hitters. She decided to conduct an independent study and these are the results:

Teresa’s study, completed in 2004, was designed to evaluate whether little league baseball players using the EYEPORT™ could improve their ability to successfully hit a curve ball.

During the study, a series of 40 curveball pitches were fed from an automatic pitching machine to each player, from a distance of 46 feet and at a speed of 50 mph. Each player used his own equipment (bat, hat, and batting helmet) during the study and was instructed to swing at every pitch. A comparison was then made of successful hits only. Each player was also given a questionnaire asking them to rate how easy or difficult it was to follow the ball all the way to the bat and then hit it, how relaxed and confident they felt, and if they felt distracted or tired during the batting session.

Then, each participant used the EYEPORT for 10-minutes a day, six days a week, for a total of three weeks. In order to minimize any external influences on performance during the study, there were no scheduled games or practice sessions, and none of the players had any batting practice.

The results of Teresa’s study proved to be even more impressive than she anticipated, when the team surprisingly won its first league championship.

This clearly demonstrates that using the EYEPORT^® Vision Training System substantially improves the batting skills of little league baseball players, while confirming the importance of visual aiming, tracking, focusing and teaming to optimal batting performance.
